The Jura General Council is making the most of the A39 (the ‘green motorway’) to promote the department at the rest area :
the 'Aire du Jura'.
The Aire du Jura is located at the 79-kilometre mark on the A39, between exit Nos. 7 (Poligny) and 8 (Lons le Saunier).
One of the distinctive features of this model rest area is that it can be accessed from both sides of the motorway. It is also possible to change direction there, and return to where you have come from. Via the secondary road between Arlay and Bletterans, local visitors can also reach the rest area, where a special car park is reserved for them.
The architecture of this showcase for the Jura was inspired by the sketches of Claude Nicolas Ledoux:
-
The Circles Pavilion
-
The Bourneville Gate
-
The Canon Forge (the Aire du Jura boiler room)
-
Outside facilities
Total surface area: 31 ha, i.e., 310,000 m².
